LEST WE FORGET
HISTORY PROJECT

AN ONGOING PROJECT OF COMMEMORATION UNDERTAKEN BY SENIOR HISTORY STUDENTS AT MACKAY NORTH SHS
Since it's inception in 1999, the school has undertaken four separate commemorative tours to the battlefields, memorials and cemeteries of Gallipoli, Northern France and Belgium, the Thai Burma Railway and Singapore.
A fifth tour is now being planned.
The most recent tour, the "Spirit of Anzac" Tour, returned from its emotional pilgrimage in October, 2006.

The project was featured for the second time on the ABC's 'Australian Story' on April 17, 2006.

The ANZAC 2002 COMMEMORATIVE TOUR
April / May 2002

And planning is now underway for the 5th tour, the:
Remembrance 2008 Commemorative Tour

This new tour comprises 32 students, the largest group so far. It will take place in September / October 2008.
The tour will once again visit the Thai Burma Railway, Singapore, Gallipoli and the old Western Front battlefields of France & Belgium.
Students are currently compling list of men to commemorate. If you have a relative you would like researched and commemorated, contact the school (details below).
